IPL THREE : Hat Trick for Praveen Kumar and Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals disastrous run in the tournament continues. After two back-to-back defeats they were once again slaughtered, this time by Royal Challengers to a 10-wicket defeat. Incidentally, it was the third 10-wicket defeat in the three editions of the IPL so far and the largest victory margin for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

After Anil Kumble and his bowlers ran through the Rajasthan Royal’s innings for a hopeless 92, openers Jacques Kallis (44 not out) and Manish Pandey (42 not out) cracked the required 93 runs in just 10.4 overs . Kumble and Praveen Kumar picked up three wickets each to demolish the opposition with Kumar taking the first hat-trick of IPL THREE.

Kallis again remained unbeaten as in the last two matches. As he had also picked two crucial wickets earlier in the match, he was rightly adjudged the man-of-the-match for his fine overall performance.

Praveen Kumar, in one inspired spell sent back three batsmen in three consecutive deliveries to complete the first hat-trick of the tournament. He yorked Damien Martyn, bounced out Sumit Narwal, who was brilliantly caught by Manish Pandey at third man; and rattled the stumps of Paras Dogra with a beautiful in-swinger.

Put into bat, Rajasthan never found rhythm and laboured throughout their innings against some quality bowling from the Bangalore outfit. Yusuf Pathan was the top-scorer in a woeful batting performance with 26.

Rajasthan were unable to deal with the absence of Graeme Smith and Dmitri Mascarenhas from their side as the replacements failed to impress. Michael Lumb, who opened the innings was stumped for 10 while Damien Martyn ambled to 19 before being dismissed.

Bangalore, who lost their opening match to Kolkata Knight Riders have registered two inspiring performances on the trot, the first while chasing a huge target against Kings XI Punjab before outplaying Rajasthan.

On the other hand RR lost their third match in a row, which put them on last place.

Royal Challengers Bangalore 93 for 0 (Kallis 44*, Pandey 42*) beat Rajasthan Royals 92 (Kumble 3-9, Praveen 3-18) by 10 wickets
