Clean Sweep by New Zealand

For once Bangladesh looked like competing with hosts New Zealand and giving them a run for their money. However, it was still not enough as the Kiwis won the third ODI with three wickets and 5.1 overs to spare. While chasing a target of 242, hosts scored 244 for 7 in 44. 5 overs.

Martin Guptill led the run chase with an outstanding 91 for which he was declared man of the match. He helped himself to nine fours and three sixes in his splendid innings. With this victory New Zealand swept the series 3-0.

Bangladesh were admirably led by opener Imrul Kayes, who scored his maiden century (101) to help the team post a fighting 241 for 9. And skipper Shakid Al Hasan returned to take 4 for 33 but it was not enough on the day.

Guptill’s knock kept New Zealand innings together and help the side to reach 195 for 5 when he perished. With 15 more overs left, the home team did reach the target but before a scare when they lost a couple of wickets in quick succession.

Suddenly New Zealand found itself struggling at t 210 for 7. It brought Ian Butler to the middle with James Franklin on the other end. Put under pressure, the duo did well to put on 34 runs to get their team across the line.
